How Faith Changed My Life

How My Faith Changed My Life (And How It Can Change Yours)

Faith is a powerful force. It shapes our decisions, determines our perspective, and ultimately defines our future. But not all faith is the same. Over the years, I have come to understand that there are different kinds of faith—faith in God, faith in people, and faith in material things. My journey has shown me that only faith in God is unshakable, while faith in men and worldly things often leads to disappointment and heartbreak.

A Personal Story of Faith

There was a time in my life when I placed my faith in people and circumstances rather than in God. I believed that if I just worked hard enough, connected with the right people, and followed the world’s advice, I would achieve success. I trusted that people would come through for me when I needed them the most. But time and time again, I was let down. Promises were broken, support vanished, and what I had built with so much expectation crumbled before my eyes.

I remember a particular season when I put my faith in a business partnership. I had poured all my resources, time, and energy into it, believing that my partner would be just as committed as I was. When things became difficult, they backed out, leaving me in financial distress and emotional turmoil. I was humiliated, broken, and bitter.

In my lowest moment, I cried out to God, asking why everything had fallen apart. It was in that silence, in the midst of my despair, that I heard a whisper in my heart: “Put your trust in Me, not in men.”

I began to shift my faith back to God. I surrendered my plans, my ambitions, and my pain to Him. Slowly, I started seeing doors open in ways I never expected. People I never imagined began to help me, resources came in miraculous ways, and most importantly, I found peace even when circumstances seemed uncertain. My faith in God became the anchor that held me firm through the storms of life.

Faith in Men vs. Faith in God

Faith in men and things often leads to heartbreak. The Bible warns us in Jeremiah 17:5-6:

Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes.

When we place our trust in people, we set ourselves up for disappointment because humans are flawed, limited, and changeable. We see this in the life of Samson (Judges 16). He put his faith in Delilah, believing she loved him, yet she betrayed him, leading to his downfall. Similarly, the Israelites placed their trust in the golden calf (Exodus 32), and it led to God’s anger and destruction.

On the other hand, faith in God brings life, peace, and fulfillment. Abraham, known as the father of faith (Romans 4:20-21), trusted God even when there was no logical reason to. Despite his old age and Sarah’s barrenness, he believed that God would make him the father of nations—and God fulfilled His promise. Another example is Hannah (1 Samuel 1:10-20), who had faith that God would give her a son. She prayed fervently, and God blessed her with Samuel, a prophet who changed Israel.

The Fruit of Faith in God

When we place our faith in God, we begin to see miracles unfold.

1. Faith Strengthens Us – No matter what we go through, faith keeps us standing. (Isaiah 40:31 – “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”)

2. Faith Opens Doors – God rewards those who trust in Him. (Hebrews 11:6 – “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.”)

3. Faith Brings Peace – Even in trials, faith in God gives us a calm assurance. (Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer…let your requests be made known to God.”)

4. Faith Leads to Purpose Fulfillment – Every person who trusted God in the Bible fulfilled their divine destiny.

Your Turn: A Call to Faith

If you have been placing your faith in people, in money, or in your own strength, I encourage you to shift your trust to God. Faith in Him never fails. Unlike men who change, betray, or fail, God is steadfast. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Take a moment to reflect: Where have you placed your faith? Have you ever had a moment where faith changed your perspective? I’d love to hear your story. Share your testimony in the comments or message us, and let’s encourage one another in this journey of faith!God bless you!
